How can I verify my membership? Do I get a member card?


Why do I no longer receive a plastic membership card?

To spend our limited funds on more in-demand items, and to be better stewards of the environment, My Carolina discontinued plastic Student Network membership cards starting in summer 2019.

After speaking with our members, we quickly learned that they preferred more giveaways like BEAT T-Shirts and events instead of plastic membership cards, which carried a substantial cost.

By reducing costs for plastic membership cards, we were able to increase the number of BEAT T-Shirts Giveaway events from four to six in 2019-2020. Student Network members also indicated that they were already accustomed to accessing services online, especially on mobile devices. With new technology, My Carolina can easily verify your membership without the need for a plastic card.

How can I verify my membership?

Starting in the 2019-2020 academic year, Student Network members will verify their membership in one of a few ways:

- Sign in to either or and click on your profile

- Install our forthcoming mobile app for a digital membership card (Spring 2020)

- Install your membership card in Apple Wallet or Google Pay (Fall 2019)

- Have My Carolina staff look you up by email address in our database to quickly verify your membership

- For some members-only events, tickets will be sent directly to members by email in advance

Can I still get a plastic membership card?

Yes! Student Network members may request a plastic membership card for any reason and at no additional cost. Simply contact us and we will mail your card to the address you specify, or you can pick it up from the Pastides Alumni Center, 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday (except on University Holidays).
