Meet Garnet Circle member Wallace Woods! Wallace is a senior nursing major from Anderson, South Carolina, and formerly served as the VP of External Relations and the VP of Recruitment and Marketing for Garnet Circle. She chose to attend South Carolina because of the endless opportunities of meeting new people and joining a variety of organizations.
“What makes UofSC special to me is the fact that I have had many family members attend this university so I have always felt connected in that aspect. It also feels special to me because I always grew up going to the football games and knew one day I wanted to be a student here. I love that this university is so diverse and strives to better the lives of its students.”
Around Columbia, Wallace is involved in many organizations that support her passion for community volunteering. She is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and has been able to assist in hosting the annual Think Pink 5k for the past four years. She is also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the local Children’s Hospital, both of which she calls rewarding experiences.
At South Carolina, Wallace is a member of Garnet Circle, the leadership board of the Student Alumni Association. She loves making a difference in the way alumni interact with students as well as promoting the new traditions and bettering the existing ones.
“Garnet Circle appealed to me because it was so different than any other organization. I was so excited to be a part of the Ring Ceremony and other networking events. Having opportunities such as attending networking events with alumni and creating new traditions makes this organization so worth being involved in.”
