Student Network Member Spotlight: Rebecca Duncan

Meet your 2020 Garnet Circle Vice President of Internal Relations, Rebecca Duncan.  Rebecca is a sophomore nursing major from Charleston, South Carolina. Coming from a long line of Gamecock alumni, Rebecca wanted to continue the legacy of family tradition. Her favorite things about being a student at the University of South Carolina are football games and being able to participate in organizations that make such a big school feel small.

“UofSC felt like home long before I ever stepped foot on campus as a freshman. Its beauty and tradition are captivating.”

Rebecca is involved with her major inside and outside the classroom. She is the President-Elect of the Student Nurses Association (SNA), an organization that focuses on initiatives and pursuing leadership at the school, state, and national levels every year. Some of the initiatives SNA has participated in are running the first aid tent at the Special Olympics, volunteering at the Children’s Hospital for Child and Healthcare Week, participating as a team in Relay for Life and organizing a neighborhood cleanup for Earth Day. In the future, she hopes to work as a future pediatric nurse practitioner back in her hometown of Charleston.

Garnet Circle strives to connect students with alumni, build a stronger campus community, prepare students for their careers, and develop the next generation of leaders. Rebecca was motivated to join Garnet Circle because she wanted to get involved with a group that has such strong ties to the traditions of the university.

“I enjoy the opportunities to network with alumni and participating in other engagement activities that the Student Network has to offer.”
